Since the Administrator’s password is set to blank we need to configure it to use a password. Also, since the default Administrator’s account has no password associated with it, it is very important that you set up a password BEFORE you attempt to logon as the Administrator. In order to be able to logon as the “default” Administrator’s account you need to first activate the Administrator’s account. When you first logon to Vista you have only one option in the Welcome screen, that is of the user that you’ve just created during the setup process. This makes the daily usage of the computer much safer than previous versions of Windows. When you are logged on to Windows Vista with a standard user account, you can do anything that you can do with an administrator account, but if you want to do something that affects other users of the computer, such as installing software or changing security settings, Windows might ask you to provide a password for an administrator account.
The standard user account can help protect your computer by preventing users from making changes that affect everyone who uses the computer.
